Westside began as a program to introduce the sport to regions of Kansas City that didn't have much lacrosse. While that is still a focus of the program, some players have improved so quickly that we have been entering teams in local and travel tournaments and competing successfully.
For Summer 2023, Westside fielded a 2029 team for the Western Shootout in Colorado Springs, finishing middle of the pack. Westside also played in the IWLCA Midwest Cup in St. Louis, finishing 2nd and played in the Kansas City Middle of the Map tourney, finishing 1st.
Our club intends to take its travel team to farther destinations such as Indianapolis and Dallas fall 2023 to provide the girls stronger game level competition than is available locally or in surrounding cities.
Westside is a nonprofit that keeps cost low for players to learn and play this great game. However, some talented players are prevented from joining the travel team due to the expense of travel.
We are looking to raise funds to support travel costs, and only travel costs, for Westside travel teams. This will allow the girls to play challenging teams and help them develop the game level skill needed to compete with more popular lacrosse markets.
More information on ways to support the program coming soon.
