Westside began as a program to introduce the sport to regions of Kansas City that didn't have much lacrosse. While that is still a focus of the program, some players have improved so quickly that we have been entering teams in local and travel tournaments and competing successfully.
Westside has performed at the top or among the top in local tournaments. For competitive tournaments farther away, we have consistently proven to be a top division level team, just one that is often in the lower half of the top division.
Our near-term goal is compete successfully against the top half of top division level teams at tournaments. That will come about from a consistent effort to develop skills.
Westside is a nonprofit that keeps cost low for players to learn and play this great game. However, some talented players are prevented from joining the travel team due to the expense of travel.
We are looking to raise funds to support travel costs, and only travel costs, for Westside travel teams. This will allow the girls to play challenging teams and help them develop the game level skill needed to compete with more popular lacrosse markets.
More information on ways to support the program coming soon.
